Biographical Note

Pianist and teacher (1899-1984). Born in Odessa, Ukraine. At twelve, began studies with Isidor Philipp at the Paris Conservatory. Left Russia in 1920 to begin extensive concertizing throughout Europe, making her home first in Paris, then London. American debut, 1936; emigrated to the US two years later. Juilliard School piano faculty, 1966-1984.
