      Correspondence and documents pertaining to “ A Festival of Three Concerts presenting Music of Ernest Bloch” by the Juilliard School of Music in collaboration with the League of Composers, Nov. 14-15, 1947. Bloch intended to be present at this series of concerts. Unfortunately he became ill and was unable to leave Oregon. This extended exchange between Suzanne and Ernest Bloch and Mark Schubart, Director of Public Activities for the Juilliard School of Music contains ALSs, TLSs, telegrams, programs and press clippings as well as carbon copies of letters issuing from Mr. Schubart’s office relating to the planning of the festival and the correspondence resulting from Bloch’s illness. Many of the Juilliard documents were moved to the archives (1989).

      To Anton Seidl, Stadtstheater, Leipzig. Richard Wagner added a note on th back fold “Ihr seid schöne Kerle! – Da haven Sie Ihren Brief wieder. R.W.” At a later date August Seidl (Mrs. Anton) mounted the letter on a sheet of paper opened in such a way as to display the Wagner note. Below it she added in her own hadwriting: “Dies’ ist des lieben Meisters Handschrift und Bemerkung über einen Bülow’schen Brief an mein lieb. Gatten, Anton Seidl, April 1908.” A section of the body of Bülow’s letter has been cut out possibly to excise some information that either Mr. or Mrs. Seidl did not wish circulated.
