Includes holograph and facsimile excerpts from those scores with corrections and revisions in the composer's hand, printer's proofs engraved by George A. McGuire with corrections in the composer's hand, and autograph and typescript correspondence sent to McGuire by the composer and music publisher Boosey & Hawkes. Also includes a holograph facsimile of the Harmony book by Elliott Carter, inscribed by the author as a gift to McGuire.

Biographical Note

George A. McGuire was an American music engraver, editor, and composer. In addition to working for Elliott Carter as engraver, he served as advisor to the Schnabel Music foundation and prepared several of Artur Schnabel's compositions for publication, winning multiple Paul Revere Awards for Graphic Excellence from the Music Publishers Association in the process. McGuire also served as researcher and editor for the first published full score of the original version of George Antheil's Ballet mécanique in 2003.
